Norbert and Rosie

Birthdate: Early August 2016 (Rosie); unknown but estimate of mid 2014 (Norbert)
Breed: Tortoiseshell and white shorthair (Rosie); Chocolate Dutch shorthair (Norbert)
Adopted: 19th April 2017 to Sascha at Tweed Heads

This bonded couple are very sweet, curious, and easy to handle. They spend most of their time relaxing and enjoy cuddles.
Backstory
Norbert and Rosie were surrendered on 3rd December 2017 due to allergies. Norbert was rescued by his original owner as a stray in August 2016, who de-sexed him and paired him with Rosie. They had been well cared for and living in a 16 sq ft homemade cage, which was donated along with them.

Norbert's personality
Norbert is a sweet and friendly boy. He loves pillows and munching away on hay. He also enjoys announcing when he is about to use the ramp, then running up or down it with much excited squeaking. Although he generally doesn't do zoomies, he will have popcorning episodes where he shows how much he loves life and his tunnels. He is gentle and easy to handle.

Rosie's personality
Rosie is a good-natured young lady, though is much bossier than her husband. She has a rather odd wheek, which she will use to remind you when she is hungry or wants attention. She will have zooming and popcorning episodes, often dragging her tunnels along while she does so as though she's become a turtle. She loves sitting like a sphinx on pillows and looking at you with great judgement, demanding some peeled grapes and a fern frond. She is a fairly large girl, weighing over 1.1 kg, but she is easy to handle and like a big warm teddy bear. She loves floor time and if you are holding her within reach of the floor or couch, she will wiggle out of your hands and dart away to explore the house.

Medical information
Norbert has osseous choristoma in his left eye. This is a benign condition common in older guinea pigs and is purely a cosmetic issue. Rosie has a slightly droopy lower right eyelid from an abscess healing on that cheek. This has healed completely and is purely a cosmetic issue. Norbert and Rosie are both desexed.

Liquorice, Galaxy (now Sizzler), and Honey (now Chumpkins)

Birthdate: Unknown but estimate of January 2017 (Liquorice); unknown but estimate of January-March 2017 (Honey); 27th February 2018 (Galaxy)
Breed: Tortoiseshell shorthair (Liquorice); Crested tortoiseshell and white shorthair (Honey); Crested black piebald shorthair (Galaxy)
Adopted: 2nd April 2018 to Kate in Melbourne as a friend for Domino
Liquorice and Honey's backstory
Liquorice and Honey were rescued from a backyard breeder in Glen Innes on the 2nd of September 2017 along with eleven other guinea pigs. Liquorice was being kept in a bird cage with Primrose. They did not have food, water, or anywhere to hide. They were handled badly and pulled by their flanks through the cage's food doors, likely contributing to her miscarriage later that day. Honey was being kept in a section for 'unbred sows', which contained a male. She was pregnant and gave birth later to Cosmo, Nacho, and Marshmallow.

Galaxy's backstory
Galaxy was born to Lola at Wheektown, along with three brothers (Avalanche, Yuri, Birch).

Liquorice's personality
Liquorice enjoys sitting at the front of the cage and watching the world go by, and will often come up to the bars to see what you're doing, but she's not a big fan of humans actually touching her. She has a quirk when she drinks, where she will tip her head back and smack her lips together after taking a sip like she is singing praises about her delicious water. She also loves rugging up in fleece blankets and houses. She has some troubles getting along with other girls, though it might be possible with the right friend.

Honey's personality
Honey is a dominant sow and is usually quite far up the food chain. She loves to climb up on her hind legs when reaching for hay, even when there is hay closer to her feet. She handles fairly well and enjoys cuddles and scratches with humans. She is curious and will come up to the front of the cage to see what you're doing, often so keen that she'll climb up the bars and make it impossible to open the door without her flopping out onto your arms.

Galaxy's personality
Galaxy is a small but personable little lady who likes to make herself heard. If she wants attention she will wheek the house down, and when handled she will tell you all about her day. She has a particular fondness for tunnels, and if none are nearby she will climb underneath another guinea pig. She gets along well with others.

Cristi and Emu (now Brownie)
Birthdate: 29th October 2017 (Cristi); 13th October 2017 (Emu)
Breed: Tortoiseshell shorthair (Cristi); Crested yellow-bellied golden agouti shorthair (Emu)

Adopted: 24th February 2018 to Wendy in Melbourne
Cristi is a shy little girl that prefers to watch the world from a safe distance.  Emu is a very energetic young lady, though is much more mild-mannered than her sister.
Backstory
Cristi was born to Coffee at Wheektown, along with a brother (Caramel). Emu was born to Primrose at Wheektown, along with a sister (Dia).

Cristi's personality
Cristi is a very quiet, shy young lady. She is quite fast and darts in and out of things like a black flash. She is rather nosy and will poke her head out of hidey spots to see what's going on before disappearing when she realises she's been spotted. However when away from crowds she becomes much more confident and is known to run around and wheek happily. She will be better of with another calm and quiet friend, as loud and energetic pigs make her nervous.

Emu's personality
Emu is a very sprightly ball of energy that loves to bounce around, play chasing games, and climb over or under larger guinea pigs. She likes getting into mischief, though nowhere near the degree of her sister Dia, and isn't afraid to make some noise if the humans are too late with their dinner. Emu was named after her positioning in her mother's pregnancy x-ray, which made it look like she had a very long neck. Emu loves chin rubs, and would make you scratch her chin all day if she could.

Backstory
Cosmo was born to Honey at Wheektown, along with two sisters (Nacho and Marshmallow).

Cosmo's personality
Cosmo is the runt of the litter and a very easy-going boy. He loves to snuggle up with other guinea pigs and go at a slow pace through life. He is fairly quiet and easy to handle. He toddles when he walks and loves to munch on hay and leafy green vegetables.

Medical information

Primrose and Lavender

Birthdate: Estimated January 2017 (Lavender); estimated January-March 2017 (Primrose)
Breed: Crested golden agouti calico shorthair (Primrose); golden agouti calico shorthair (Lavender)
Adopted: 6th December 2017 to Roshan in Sydney
Lavender and Primrose are very sweet girls. Lavender prefers to feel nice and snug during cuddle time, whereas Primrose is very affectionate and easy to handle.
Backstory
Lavender and Primrose were rescued from a backyard breeder in Glen Innes on the 2nd of September 2017 along with eleven other guinea pigs. Lavender was being kept in a bucket with another pregnant sow who had an advanced respiratory infection. They did not have water or anywhere to hide. She delivered a stillborn after arriving. Primrose was being kept in a bird cage with Liquorice. They did not have food, water, or anywhere to hide. They were handled badly and pulled by their flanks through the cage's food doors.

Lavender's personality
Lavender is very affectionate toward other guinea pigs and is rarely in a bad mood. She looked after Primrose during her pregnancy and showed her how to take food from the humans' hands. Lavender is a relatively calm girl, though she is still a bit skittish when it comes to humans. She has become relaxed enough in general that she will sleep out in the open.

Primrose's personality
Primrose is a very affectionate guinea pig. She is still a bit skittish when it comes to humans, though she does calm down when she is secured; once you have her she is quite placid and easy to handle. She has become relaxed enough in general that she will sleep out in the open.

Adopted: 30th October 2017 to Jenny in Gold Coast
Holly and Moira are both very inquisitive young ladies that love to get into mischief. Moira has proven to be very intelligent whereas Holly is much more spontaneous.
Holly's backstory
Her original owner was a university student that decided to sell her upon realising that pets were not allowed in the dormitories. She arrived at Wheektown on 11 August 2017. Due to poor care she did not know how to walk, talk, or eat.

Moira's backstory
Moira was rescued from a backyard breeder in Glen Innes on the 2nd of September 2017 along with twelve other guinea pigs. She was being kept in a section for 'unbred sows'.

Holly's personality
Holly is a surprisingly sassy little girl. She loves to run around and is extremely curious. She has a lot of opinions and makes a good alarm clock, with her loud and intense wheeking as breakfast or dinner time approaches. She is very good with handling and enjoys lap time with Moira; however she is very adventurous and may wander off if you take your eyes off her.

Moira's personality
Moira tends to prefer being on her own but will cuddle up and spend time with Holly. She is a very smart and inquisitive girl and is capable of unlatching cage doors and unzipping carriers if they are not completely secure. She enjoys lap time with Holly as long as she feels safe and has something to nibble on as compensation; however she is very adventurous and may wander off if you take your eyes off her.

Peach and Sphinx

Birthdate: 30th May 2017
Breed: Cream piebald shorthair (Peach); Red piebald sheltie (Sphinx)
Adopted: 9 August 2017 to Jenny at Evan's Head
Sphinx is humble, friendly, and likes to sit like a sphinx (hence her name). Peach loves to cuddle, run around, and has a lot of opinions.
Backstory
Peach and Sphinx were born to Mouse at Wheektown, along with two brothers (Bumble and Diaz).

Sphinx's personality
Sphinx is a lithe girl that likes to push her way into the excitement. She rarely left Mouse's side and at times it seemed like she would never let go of the nipple. Now she has no problems climbing between, under, or over the other guinea pigs to get at the food. She is not a big fan of being handled and is quite wiggly.

Peach's personality
Peach inherited her mother's voice and will recount her opinions to everyone within earshot. She is very exuberant and loves to run around and popcorn, especially back and forth through tunnels. She is full of energy and doesn't stay still for very long - unless she is eating, in which case she takes her time. She tolerates handling for short periods.
