There are many ways to help out the guinea pigs at Wheektown.
Using our services
Boarding If you are going away, let us look after your guinea pigs for you. They will have a lovely time in our cozy quarters, and all profit goes directly back into the guinea pigs. Find out more here.
Pampering and health services We do nail clipping, hair trimming, bathing, and skin care with products specifically catered to guinea pigs. We conduct basic urine tests using both dipsticks and microscopes, as well as parasite and fungal treatments. Our health checks are completely free. Find out more here.
Buying from our online range We focus on making and selling things that you can't buy elsewhere. We even have the world's only line of guinea pig board games! Find out more about the games here, and about our other online products here.
Donate or sponsor
Financial assistance is always welcome, and a once-off or regular donation, or credit toward our veterinary or food bill, goes straight toward the guinea pigs at Wheektown.
Although Wheektown is small enough that cleaning can be managed by one person, there are some other areas that volunteers are welcome in - regardless of where you are in Australia! For those in the Armidale area, vegetable growers, foster carers, and overnight intensive carers are needed.
Let your family and friends know that Wheektown offers guinea pig services. Educate others on the proper dietary and housing requirements of guinea pigs. Above all, remember that guinea pigs are complicated creatures and do not make good starter pets.
Help out other rescues
If you are unable to help Wheektown out, don't worry! There are plenty of guinea pigs around the world needing help. A list of guinea pig rescues is available hereand, like all animal shelters, they are always in need of volunteers and donations. There is also an RSPCA in Armidale that helps out all animals, not just guinea pigs, so any non-guinea pig goods can be donated to them. Their Facebook page is located here.
